The Matica MC660 has a 600dpi resolution printhead that can reproduce any detailed image, with excellent clarity and image definition. Thanks to its retransfer printing technology, it can print on most types of card materials including PVC, PET, Polycarbonate (PC) and ABS.
The MC660 is used in a number of high security, high volume ID issuance projects around the World and has been adapted by Matica for maximum quality and reliability. It is often specified because of the secure printing options offered by its high definition print engine – these include microtext which, combined with the use of UV or security (YMCKSc) ribbons or retransfer film with embedded holographic elements, increases the number of visual security elements (VSE) on the card. The MC660 is also equipped with a full range of encoding options which offer full flexibility when issuing smart cards (contact chip, magnetic stripe or contactless).

Additional modules for increased security and durability
In addition to its high definition and high security printing, the MC660 can be combined with additional desktop modules for extra security or added card durability. By combining the MC660 with the the MC-L laminator, card life can be extended to up to ten years, making it an ideal solution for government ID projects. In combination with Matica’s MC-LX laser as the LCP9660, the MC660 is capable of printing a color image on to a laserable polycarbonate card before additional variable data or security features are applied inline by the laser.

Additional covert security printing can be added to the card using the UV ribbon option. The MC-L2 laminator module is the ideal solution to enhance the durability and the security of cards printed on the MC310 direct to card printer or XID-M retransfer printer series. Easy to install and operate, the MC-L2 works inline to laminate cards at exceptional speeds, laminating both sides of the card in less than 20 seconds thanks to the simultaneous dual-side lamination process.
The MC-L2 can be easily connected to the MC310 using a connection plinth, which also serves as a useful lockable storage unit for cards and cleaning kits.

DescriptionIncrease card durability and security with Matica’s Inline Laminating Modules (ILM)
Lamination can be used as a premium security measure to upgrade the level of forgery protection whilst also increasing the lifetime of the cards. The ILM has been configured to be significantly faster and more cost-effective, due to its modern industrial design.
It works with both clear laminates (for durability) as well as holographic laminates (for security) for maximum issuance flexibility. The ILM-LS model is for high speed single-sided lamination, while the robust ILM-DS takes care of dual-sided lamination requirements. The ILM is the fastest laminating module available on the market, with a speed of 16 seconds per card for single-sided and 30 seconds per card for dual-sided lamination.
Enhancing card security
Cards are laminated with the ILM by using a heat-sealing film. This film can contain holographic and other Visual Security Elements (VSEs) for enhanced protection. Matica offers a range of standard holographic designs in both patch laminate and continuous film formats. For the ultimate security protection, organisations can opt for a customized holographic laminate with VSEs that are unique to them – this approach is often adopted for government secure documents such as driving licenses and national ID cards.

Another important reason to laminate pre-personalized cards is to increase the durability and extend the life of the card, thanks to the enhanced mechanical and UV resistance of the lamination material. A card laminated with a 1.0 mil (35 micron) patch can have a lifecycle of up to 10 years – a timeframe often mandated for government/citizen ID schemes.
The ILM can be seamlessly combined with Matica’s XID 8300 and XID 8600 retransfer printers to create a seamless one card personalization solution.The module’s compact size and the availability of single or dual-sided models offers you additional flexibility to match your budget and requirements.
